Some of you may have recently read the highlights of our babymoon recap. The Smoky Mountains were calling our names and being so close to the state border, Cameron and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to explore North Carolina. The twisting roads led us to many places, but our favorite of all was Asheville, North Carolina. While we didn’t have an extensive amount of time, we made the most of the few hours we did have there. Here’s how to make the most of 24 hours in Asheville, NC.
+ Grayline Asheville Trolley Tours
When you’re crunched for time, there’s no better way to explore the city than with Grayline’s Hop-On, Hop-Off Tour. For just $37 (per person), you have all day access to Grayline’s 90-minute trolley tour as your tour guide highlights the history, homes, and hot spots of Asheville. Go back in time to visit beloved the locations of Scott F. & Zelda Fitzgerald, Harry Houdini, and Ulysses S. Grant. And if you want to take more time to explore a specific location… just hop off the trolley! Go to the local boutiques, restaurants, art galleries and art deco architecture that make up this beautiful mountain city.
+ Bites & Brews
Get a taste of all that Beer City USA has to offer. For the fourth year in a row, Asheville has been named Beer City USA due to the explosion of breweries that have inhabited the city. Some of our favorite spots include Wicked Weed Brewing, Asheville Brewing Co., and a variety of options located in the South Slope District. Looking for a family-friendly place that serves beer and can also entertain the kiddos? The top level of the The S&W Market provides Highland Brewery’s Taproom along with live music, arcade games, and gorgeous views of Downtown Asheville. Not to mention they have a killer set of food vendors on the bottom floor including Buxton Chicken, Bun Intended, Farm Dogs, the Hop Ice Cream shop and more.
+ Local Shops
There are a plethora of locally-owned boutiques to shop from in Downtown Asheville. Whether you’re looking for a new wardrobe, unique home décor, or your next piece of art, Asheville has something for everyone! 24-hours isn’t enough time to visit all of these beautiful stores, but a few of my favorite Asheville pitstops include Modern H&L Goods, Hazel Twenty, Charmed Asheville, and Mount Inspired Apparel.
