Don’t let the pursuit of tomorrow diminish the joy of today. 🤍

It’s so easy to get caught up in planning for tomorrow and looking ahead to the future. When we do this, we might miss out on what’s right in front of us! Writing is something that definitely helps ground me in the moment, even if I’m writing about the past or future.

There’s something so special about pausing, reflecting, and letting yourself feel fully present. Whether it’s sipping your morning coffee without rushing, taking a walk and noticing the beauty around you, or journaling your thoughts, these small moments have the power to bring us back to center.

So today, let’s focus on the now. Celebrate the little joys, cherish the quiet moments, and embrace simply being. What’s something that helps you stay present and emjoy today?

This my story. ❤️

Some people might ask why we did what we did…Why did we move our family across the country and start over? We were ready for a change of pace and a slower life that the South could give us. California will forever be my home, but moving to Chattanooga is the best thing we could have done!

My experience was a unique one as I suddenly became a “Southern transplant”. I poured that experience into my poetry and the first edition of Mud Water Will Rise was born. After I wrote those poems about my experience, I could sense that there was an array of perspective about living in the South that need to be voiced as well. I spoke with others in my community, listening to their stories about what it means to be lifelong Southerners. These conversations became the inspiration for the second edition of Mud Water Will Rise — A collection of stories from my personal experience as a Southern transplant and the stories I heard from others.

Mud Water Will Rise isn’t just a story by itself. It came out of my time growing up and living in California. The next book I am writing in this series of poetry books is called Salt Air to Mud Water. It’s somewhat of a prequel to Mud Water Will Rise as a discuss my life in California and what I learned there.

Salt Air to Mud Water will be published THIS spring! I am so excited to share these stories with you and I hope they resonate deeply. 🤍🌊
